An Introduction to planting and garden design

Esther is a garden coach, qualified in horticulture and garden design. Esther works part time as an advisor with the RHS's horticultural information team, and part time offering one-to-one garden coaching sessions and garden courses in the Harrogate area.

Most of us enjoy wandering round the gardens at Harlow Carr, York Gate or Newby Hall – but have you ever analysed why these gardens are so appealing? We will look at the fundamental principles of garden design, discover the secrets to creating a successful garden and discuss how you can draw on these to make your own garden even more lovely.
