Due to the very low numbers who have been involved in the iPad Workshops over the past few months, we have decided that there appears to be very little need for these sessions and our intention is to close the group this coming Tuesday (15th August).

Of course, we are both always available at the end of the phone, or via a pre arranged visit to help any members where we can.

We have been more than happy to help members get the most from their iPads, but feel that this group has run it’s course.
The group has been running for over 10 years and the devices are no longer new or novel to many people.

We thank everyone who has ever attended for your company and good humour and hope that you have found the workshops useful.

I am very excited to be able to let you know that yesterday the Board of Directors approved a plan to bring the first ever national u3a festival to York and I wanted members and u3as in our region to be the first to know.

We will be holding it at York University where there are sufficient facilites for us to be able to welcome members from all over the UK to come and enjoy all manner of interests and sporting activities all in one location.

To be held over a 3 day period in the week beginning 15th July 2024 we expect to be able to accommodate sporting tournaments, art and craft activities and workshops as well as music and local excursions.

Plans are very much in the early stages and although it may be a little time before we get further details to you I hope you will put it in your diaries.  There will be student accommdoation available right next door to the sports and exhibition/restaurant areas we will be using but there are also local hotels, guest houses, and campsites which members may like to book.   There will also be the opportunity for people to come for the day.

Please do ask any questions and if I can I will answer, and as time goes by I will keep you up to date.

I hope you will share my excitement and look forward to sharing our beautiful region with our fellow members.

    All the very best

    Margaret
